The Power of a Growth Mindset

At Futbol Drones we love learning how our film footage is used by the many coaches, organizers and players with whom we work.  Coach Niall recently shared the concept of a “growth mindset” vs “fixed mindset”.

With a fixed mindset, players believe that soccer “IQ” (including analysis, skills acquisition, etc.) or talent is innate or “fixed” and as a result they don’t spend time developing that portion of their game. With a growth mindset players have to believe their soccer IQ can be developed and stretched with focus and dedication. Niall encourages this shift from fixed to growth mindset as he takes his players through a video session of a match. If successful this can have a profound effect on learning, skills acquisition and ultimately, performance on the field.  Footage and the ability to re-play the match is a powerful medium and can play a critical role in encouraging the growth mindset.

Rob is incredibly precise and professional in his work. I have been extremely happy with the work he has done for the soccer teams I coach. The drone footage is an absolutely invaluable learning tool for player and team development. This technology has provided the players with the oppprtunitity to learn from their mistakes and clearly recognize areas for the continued development.
